Chargé d’Affaires reflects on U.S.-Singapore relations during Independence Day event

Senior Minister Tan, Admiral Beng Chief of Defence Force, honored guests, and distinguished colleagues gathered at the Center of the Universe in Singapore to celebrate Independence Day on July 3, 2025. The Chargé d’Affaires expressed gratitude for the venue and highlighted the contributions of American companies that sponsored the event.

The Chargé d’Affaires noted, "Our Embassy team has done an amazing job to transform this place to remind you of some of America’s iconic time periods, music, and cuisine!" He thanked American businesses for their continued support and acknowledged their role as "the heartbeat of our community and this economic relationship."

Celebrating the United States' 249th anniversary, he reflected on America's history as a nation of "risk takers, innovators, idealists, and realists." He emphasized America's enduring partnership with Singapore since its founding by Lee Kwan Yew. "America has had no stronger partner than Singapore," he stated.

He also highlighted recent diplomatic efforts: "Defense Secretary Hegseth visited last month carrying a message of our commitment to strengthen this relationship." The Chargé d’Affaires mentioned collaborations in AI, quantum computing, cybersecurity, and nuclear energy as part of a successful future economy.

As his tenure concludes after three years in Singapore, he praised the U.S.-Singapore partnership's potential. He congratulated Singapore on its 60th anniversary: "I wish you another six decades of success."

In closing remarks addressed to fellow Americans present at the celebration: “Happy Independence Day! Thank you.”
