Barclays has announced the appointment of Joseph Lee as Head of High Touch Sales Trading for the Asia Pacific region. This move is part of Barclays' strategy to strengthen its Equities platform in Asia. Based in Hong Kong, Lee will lead high-touch cash trading efforts, focusing on delivering quality execution and enhancing client engagement. He will report to Peter Ramsey, Global Head of Cash Equities, and Christian Treuer, Head of Equities Distribution for Asia Pacific.

In recent years, Barclays has expanded its APAC Equities business by investing in areas like Structured Derivatives and Quantitative Investment Strategies. The bank aims to provide a more integrated service through strategic hires like Lee's.

Peter Ramsey commented on the appointment: “Joe’s appointment reinforces our commitment to becoming a Top 5 Global Equities franchise and a leading APAC Cash Equities platform.” Christian Treuer added: “His deep market expertise will help strengthen our execution offering.”

Lee brings nearly 30 years of experience from his previous roles at HSBC and Credit Suisse. His hiring underscores Barclays’ focus on building a differentiated platform in APAC.
