Secretary of State Marco Rubio is set to visit Kuala Lumpur from July 8 to July 12. During his visit, he will participate in the ASEAN-United States Post-Ministerial Conference, the East Asia Summit Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, and the ASEAN Regional Forum Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. Meetings with senior Malaysian government officials are also on his agenda.

This marks Secretary Rubio's first trip to Asia in his current role. His focus is on reaffirming the United States' commitment to a free, open, and secure Indo-Pacific region.

The trip aims to emphasize the strength of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership with ASEAN and its impact on both American citizens and Southeast Asians. Additionally, there is a commitment to further developing the Comprehensive Partnership with Malaysia.
