U.S. citizens in Nairobi have been alerted about potential disruptions in the Central Business District (CBD) on July 7, 2025. The U.S. Embassy in Nairobi issued a warning regarding possible road closures and checkpoints leading to the CBD, alongside significant security force deployments due to anticipated protests.

The embassy advises citizens to avoid protests and crowds, monitor local media for updates, and maintain personal safety measures such as keeping vehicle doors locked and windows rolled up. Citizens are also encouraged to inform friends and family of their whereabouts, review personal security plans, and carry a copy of their U.S. passport with a current Kenyan visa.

For assistance, U.S. citizens can contact the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi located at United Nations Avenue, Gigiri, or call +254 (0) 20 363 6000. Further support is available through the State Department's Consular Affairs at +1-888-407-4747 for calls from the United States or Canada and +1-202-501-4444 for overseas calls from Kenya.

The embassy encourages enrollment in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for receiving alerts and suggests following their social media accounts on Facebook and X: @USEmbassyKenya and @CDCKenya for updates.
