Samsung Electronics has announced a series of security and privacy updates for its upcoming Samsung Galaxy smartphones featuring One UI 8. These updates aim to enhance mobile technology security by introducing protections for on-device AI, expanding cross-device threat detection, and improving network security with quantum-resistant encryption.
A new architecture, Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), has been introduced to safeguard AI-powered features. KEEP provides encrypted storage environments within the device's secure area, ensuring each app accesses only its own sensitive information. It supports Galaxy's Personal Data Engine (PDE) to secure personal insights like routines and preferences, enabling features such as Now Brief and Smart Gallery search.
KEEP's structure scales across Galaxy AI innovations, protecting features like Now Brief and Smart Suggestions without compromising privacy. "With KEEP, Samsung is redefining how mobile devices safeguard data in the background to elevate privacy from a setting to an embedded design principle," the company stated.
Samsung is also advancing user protection with Knox Matrix through One UI 8. The system offers proactive protection for connected devices by automatically signing out of Samsung Account if a device faces serious risk. Users receive notifications across their devices and are guided to review issues via the 'Security status of your devices' page.
In line with quantum-safe security commitments, Samsung is upgrading Secure Wi-Fi with post-quantum cryptography through Post-Quantum Enhanced Data Protection (EDP). This upgrade strengthens network protection against emerging threats in quantum computing. The enhancement secures key exchange processes in encrypted connections to maintain robust privacy over public networks.
These updates underscore Samsung’s commitment to evolving mobile security alongside innovation. They reinforce on-device privacy for personalized AI with KEEP, expand transparency through Knox Matrix, and introduce quantum-resistant protection for Secure Wi-Fi. As new challenges emerge, Samsung focuses on delivering safeguards that are built-in and ready for future threats.
