Belgrade, July 1, 2025 – The Chargé d’Affaires Titolo addressed attendees at the U.S. Independence Day celebration in Belgrade, marking the 249th anniversary of American independence. "It’s an incredible honor for me and my wife Yinnet to welcome you to the celebration," he stated.

Titolo expressed gratitude towards Speaker Brnabić, ministers, religious dignitaries, and guests from various sectors of Serbian life for attending the event. He also acknowledged the sponsors who supported the event and highlighted the value American businesses bring to Serbia's economy.

The speech emphasized the shared spirit of freedom between Americans and Serbs, which has historically connected both nations as allies in two world wars. Titolo noted that this spirit could guide a new era in Serbia-U.S. relations.

He referenced President Trump's vision for international relationships based on practical realism, which encourages forging new partnerships beyond past conflicts. "This is a tremendous opportunity especially for Serbia," Titolo remarked.

Acknowledging past distrust stemming from the 1990s wars, Titolo highlighted efforts to reset U.S.-Serbia relations through support and investment in Serbian institutions over the last 25 years. This includes modernizing government systems and aiding economic sectors like film, agriculture, tech, and innovation.

Titolo announced plans to open the American Resource Center "the ARC" at Lozionica this fall to further demonstrate America's commitment to shared goals with Serbia. Additionally, he mentioned participation in EXPO 2027 as an opportunity for mutual cultural exchange.

Concluding his remarks, Titolo looked forward to celebrating America’s upcoming 250th birthday next year with events branded as “America250.” He expressed optimism about future U.S.-Serbian relations: "Our spirit of freedom does not allow us to be prisoners of the past."
