Andrew Kircher has been appointed as the World Bank Group Resident Representative for Honduras. This new role is designed to consolidate leadership at the country level, providing a unified point of contact for accessing the full range of World Bank Group products and services. The aim is to deliver more integrated development solutions, enhance operational efficiency and impact, and better support both public and private sector priorities.

The introduction of joint representation marks a significant move towards strengthening the World Bank Group's presence in Honduras. The country is among 20 nations transitioning this year to a single Resident Representative covering the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development (IBRD), the International Development Association (IDA), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency (MIGA).

"Reducing poverty and creating more opportunities for Hondurans requires more dynamic economic growth, the creation of quality jobs, and more resilient communities," said Kircher upon assuming his new role. "With a unified leadership, we can work more closely with the government, the private sector, and most importantly, the people we serve, to ensure economic development benefits everyone."

The World Bank Group’s strategy in Honduras focuses on promoting human development, fostering growth and job creation, and strengthening resilience to natural disasters. The active portfolio in Honduras includes 12 investment projects and two development policy operations from IBRD/IDA totaling over USD 1.19 billion in commitments. IFC’s portfolio amounts to USD 266 million across 12 investment projects and three advisory engagements. MIGA has one active infrastructure project with an exposure of USD 64 million.

Kircher is a U.S. national who joined the World Bank Group in 1999 as a Communications Officer. He has since held various positions including UN Program Coordinator, Senior Operations Officer, and Manager of External Relations. He holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy and Public Affairs from American University.
