In observance of the 244th anniversary of U.S. independence, the U.S. Embassy in Kolonia has announced a Virtual Essay Competition for citizens and residents of the Federated States of Micronesia aged 13 to 17. The competition's theme focuses on environmental conservation, prompting participants to consider their role and that of their community in this global effort.

The contest offers prizes for the top three essays: a Samsung A70 cell phone for first place, a $100 FSMTC Telecard for second place, and a $50 FSMTC Telecard for third place.

Participants are required to submit original essays by email to KoloniaPAS@state.gov by noon on June 24, 2020 (Pohnpei Time). Submissions must not exceed 500 words and should include the participant's name, age, email address, and FSM state. The judges reserve the right to request proof of age from winning contestants if necessary.

For further information about the competition, Abigail Kim, Public Diplomacy Assistant at the U.S. Embassy Kolonia, can be contacted at 691-320-2187 or via email at KoloniaPAS@state.gov.
