The World Bank Group has announced the appointment of Fily Sissoko as the new Division Director for Mozambique, Madagascar, Mauritius, Comoros, and Seychelles. This change takes effect today. Mr. Sissoko replaces Idah Pswarayi-Riddihough, who served in this capacity for four and a half years.
Mr. Sissoko will guide the World Bank Group’s collaboration with governmental bodies, development partners, and other stakeholders in his new role. His efforts will focus on initiatives that align with national priorities and support the World Bank's goal of reducing poverty globally.
An Ivorian national with more than 23 years of experience in development across Africa, East Asia, South Asia, and the Pacific, Mr. Sissoko was previously the World Bank Country Manager for Togo based in Lome. Before that position, he managed the Governance Global Practice for East Asia and Pacific regions. He began his career at the World Bank in 2002 as a Financial Management Specialist in Dakar, Senegal.
Operating from Maputo, Mr. Sissoko will manage a portfolio comprising 63 projects worth $8.5 billion across five countries. These projects cover sectors such as education, energy, health, social protection, infrastructure, agriculture, governance, and private sector development.
