The USNS Comfort concluded its visit to Panama today, as part of the Continuing Promise 2025 mission. The hospital ship has been in Panama for five days, providing a range of medical services in collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MINSA). These services included general medicine, pediatrics, cardiology, dermatology, dentistry, radiology, pharmacy, and veterinary care.

During its stay from June 26 to June 30, the mission facilitated care for 2,845 patients. Medical personnel aboard the USNS Comfort performed seven surgeries and conducted several diagnostic tests including seven CT scans and 124 electrocardiograms. Additionally, they carried out 487 tooth extractions and 339 laboratory tests. In total, the mission dispensed 3,577 medications and distributed about 29 physical therapy devices.

Veterinary care was also a focus during this mission. U.S. and Panamanian veterinarians spayed or neutered 375 animals over the course of their stay. The team also engaged in technical knowledge exchange sessions with MINSA staff that involved 466 participants.

The engineering team on board contributed by repairing kitchen facilities at the United States of America School in Casco Antiguo over a span of 205 service hours. The U.S. Navy’s band Uncharted Waters performed three concerts attended by approximately 2,200 people.

This stop marked Panama as the second destination for USNS Comfort after Grenada under this year's Continuing Promise mission which began in 2007 under U.S. Southern Command's direction. Since then it has served over 605,000 patients and conducted roughly 7,300 surgeries throughout various regions.
