Barclays Bank UK PLC has announced the appointment of Robert Swaak as a Non-Executive Director to its Board. Subject to regulatory approval, Swaak will take on the role of Barclays Bank UK PLC Board Audit Committee Chair starting in March 2026.
Swaak brings with him a wealth of international financial expertise and regulatory knowledge in both retail and commercial banking. His leadership and strategic transformation experience spans an executive career of 36 years. Previously, he served as CEO of ABN AMRO N.V., stepping down after five years. Before his tenure at ABN AMRO, Swaak held senior roles at PwC, including Global Relationship Partner, Vice Chairman Global Clients & Markets, and CEO of PwC in The Netherlands. He is also involved with various Management and Supervisory Boards across different sectors in The Netherlands.
