Barclays has announced changes to its Group Executive Committee, effective immediately. Alistair Currie, the Group Chief Operating Officer, will be departing from Barclays to pursue a board portfolio career.
In response to this change, Craig Bright and Anne Marie Darling will take on the roles of Group Co-Chief Operating Officers and Barclays Execution Services Co-Chief Executive Officers. Craig Bright joined Barclays in 2020 as the Group Chief Information Officer. He has been responsible for the group's technology strategy and leading digital transformation efforts across consumer and wholesale businesses. With over 30 years of experience in technology and financial services, he has led technology functions and implemented complex cloud and digital strategies.
Anne Marie Darling joined Barclays in April after a 25-year career at Goldman Sachs, where she was a partner for 12 years. During her time there, she held various leadership positions including Head of the Global Multi-Asset Platform Sales team, Head of Global FICC Execution Services, COO of Global Securities Sales, and Head of Marquee digital distribution strategy.
C.S. Venkatakrishnan commented: “Craig and Anne Marie each have a vast and rich professional experience and complement each other well. We will benefit from their collaborative leadership."
He also expressed gratitude towards Alistair Currie: “I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Alistair for his successful tenure as Group COO and head of the BX entity. I have personally benefitted from his valuable contributions to the Group Executive Committee since 2019. Alistair leaves the COO function with a strong focus and direction in executing our strategy and wider transformation objectives.”
The transition process involved Craig Bright and Anne Marie Darling working closely with Alistair Currie since April to ensure a smooth handover.
