The United States has reiterated its concerns to UN Secretary-General António Guterres regarding Francesca Albanese, the "United Nations Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in the Palestinian territories occupied since 1967." The U.S. is urging the Secretary-General to condemn her activities and seek her removal, warning that failure to act could discredit the United Nations and prompt significant actions in response to what it describes as misconduct by Ms. Albanese.

Recently, Ms. Albanese has been accused of escalating a pattern of antisemitism and anti-Israel bias through correspondence sent to various global entities, including major American corporations. These letters allegedly contain flawed legal arguments supporting accusations against these organizations for complicity in human rights violations, apartheid, and genocide. The U.S. views these actions as an unacceptable campaign against both American and global economies.

Earlier this year, the U.S. opposed the renewal of Ms. Albanese’s appointment, arguing that it disregards the code of conduct for Special Rapporteurs and brings disgrace to the UN. They cite her alleged antisemitism and support for terrorism as reasons rendering her unfit for her role. Additionally, there are claims that she misrepresented her qualifications by stating she is an international lawyer without having passed a legal bar examination or being licensed to practice law.

The U.S. continues to urge Secretary-General Guterres to condemn Ms. Albanese's activities directly and call for her removal from her position as Special Rapporteur.
