Siemens has finalized its acquisition of ebm-papst's industrial drive technology business. The expanded portfolio, now integrated under the Simotics E brand, includes the Simotics E-1EE1 and Simotics E-1EV1 variants. These products are designed for use in battery-powered systems and intralogistics applications, respectively.
The new offerings are available in 24 V and 48 V versions and include transmission solutions that work exclusively with Simotics E motors. A key innovation is the Simotics E ArgoDrive driver steering system, developed to enhance control over automated guided vehicles in various load scenarios.
These developments align with Siemens' sustainability objectives by offering energy-efficient solutions for digital factories. The integration involves facilities located in St. Georgen and Lauf an der Pegnitz, Germany, as well as Oradea, Romania.
The sale was initially announced by ebm-papst Group in March 2024, culminating in an agreement signed by both parties. With this acquisition completed, Siemens gains access to new markets through its global sales network while retaining all existing IDT employees. Financial terms of the deal remain undisclosed.
