Macquarie Capital has announced the appointment of Guillermo Trenas as Managing Director in Spain. In this position, Mr. Trenas will oversee the Spanish advisory and capital solutions business.
Mr. Trenas brings nearly 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions (M&A), equity capital markets (ECM), restructuring, capital solutions, and capital raising. His career includes significant work on M&A transactions across sectors such as infrastructure, industrials, technology, telecommunications, and consumer goods. Previously at Lazard's Madrid office, he advanced from Senior Associate to Managing Director with responsibilities for deal flow generation and selection. He began his career as a global banking analyst at Deutsche Bank in London.
Mr. Trenas will report to Rainer Langel, Head of EMEA at Macquarie Capital. Mr. Langel commented: "We are confident that Guillermo’s leadership will expand our footprint in Spain and further elevate our specialist expertise in Europe." He added that Mr. Trenas' experience and understanding of the Spanish market would create valuable opportunities for clients.

Macquarie Capital provides strategic advice on financial issues such as M&A, divestments, takeover responses, debt and equity financing among others. It also invests in private credit, private equity, real estate projects including Onivia—Spain’s largest independent wholesale fibre platform.
The company has been active in Spain since 2004 with its Madrid office opening in 2010.
