Macquarie Asset Management has announced the launch of Health Wave Partners, a senior housing platform focused on investment opportunities in modern senior housing assets. The platform will partner with established operators and aims to invest in high-quality properties in regions with strong demographic and economic fundamentals.

The management team leading Health Wave Partners includes John Cobb as Chief Executive Officer, Philip Kayden as Chief Investment Officer, Elliot Pessis as Chief Operating Officer, Sean O’Malley as Managing Director of Finance, and Holden Torrens as Director of Investments. Together, they bring over 75 years of experience in the senior housing sector and have been involved in healthcare real estate transactions worth over $50 billion.

Health Wave Partners seeks to leverage Macquarie Asset Management's extensive experience and track record by partnering with global institutions to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns. According to Macquarie’s real estate team, the senior housing sector is expected to grow due to demographic shifts and an undersupply of new senior housing options. The aging baby boomer generation is predicted to increase the population aged 80+ at an unprecedented rate in the U.S., outpacing new supply.

Eric Wurtzebach, Head of Real Estate for Macquarie Asset Management, stated: “We have extensive experience in targeting sectors bolstered by structural tailwinds and selecting the optimal team within those sectors to partner with.” He believes that Health Wave Partners is well-positioned to access opportunities while mitigating risks.

John Cobb, CEO of Health Wave Partners, added: “We believe our team’s expertise and strategic partnership with Macquarie Asset Management positions us for success and are excited to pursue what we believe is a strong opportunity in the market.”

Macquarie Asset Management brings over 35 years of experience in the real estate sector and has a network of 15 specialist operator investments globally. Their approach involves investing in specialist operating platforms through partnerships that provide access to local market expertise.

Health Wave Partners aims to deliver modern accommodation for seniors alongside experienced operators through its strategic partnership with Macquarie Asset Management. The focus will be on investing in regions with favorable demographic and economic conditions.
