Washington, DC: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) announced that Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva intends to appoint Sabina Bhatia as the new Director of the Corporate Services and Facilities Department (CSF). Ms. Bhatia, currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the IMF's Secretary’s Department, will take over from Brian Christensen, who is moving to lead the Human Resources Department. Her new role begins on September 1, 2025.

Ms. Bhatia has been with the IMF since 1994 and has accumulated over 30 years of experience. She has held senior positions in both the Secretary’s Department and Communications Department. In these roles, she led significant institutional initiatives and strategic communications campaigns aimed at enhancing the Fund's service to its members.

"Sabina is a deeply respected leader with a proven track record of delivering results across a wide range of institutional priorities," said Ms. Georgieva. "Her deep understanding of the Fund’s operations, her commitment to staff, and her ability to lead with empathy and vision make her exceptionally well-suited to head CSF."

As Deputy Secretary, Ms. Bhatia was instrumental in supporting IMFC Chair operations and organizing Annual Meetings, including those in Marrakech in 2023. She also played a role in key institutional reforms like the 16th General Review of Quotas and contributed to implementing the Managing Director’s Global Policy Agenda.

In her previous role as an Advisor in the Communications Department during the global financial crisis, she expanded engagement with various organizations such as civil society groups and academic institutions.

"Sabina brings to CSF a unique blend of strategic insight, operational experience, and a deep commitment to service," added Ms. Georgieva. "I am confident she will build on the department’s strong foundation and boldly lead its next chapter of innovation and excellence."
