ANZ has announced the retirement of Gerard Florian, Group Executive Technology & Group Services, effective August 4, 2025. Florian will be leaving to pursue a non-executive career after a four-decade-long career in technology.
Florian joined ANZ in 2017 and was instrumental in shaping the bank's technology strategy and managing its infrastructure. Prior to his role at ANZ, he spent 18 months advising the Group Board as part of the ANZ International Technology and Digital Business Advisory Panel.
Nuno Matos, ANZ Chief Executive Officer, remarked on Florian's contributions: “While I have only worked with Gerard for a short period of time, he leaves ANZ having driven important changes through the organisation. Our customer and banker experience is notably better due to the adoption of cloud services, artificial intelligence and enterprise platforms, championed by Gerard."
Matos highlighted Florian's efforts in building diverse teams within technology and his sponsorship of the Abilities Network aimed at enhancing experiences for employees or customers with disabilities.
Michael Bullock, currently Chief Information Officer at ANZ Bank New Zealand Limited, will step into the role of Acting Group Executive Technology & Group Services during a global search for a permanent replacement. Bullock brings extensive international experience from his tenure at Citi in New York and London as well as previous roles within ANZ.
Matos expressed confidence in Bullock's interim leadership: “Michael is a highly experienced technology executive who I know will do an outstanding job leading our technology function while we conduct a global search for our next technology leader."
The announcement was approved for distribution by ANZ’s Continuous Disclosure Committee.
