Multiple demonstrations are scheduled to take place on June 26, 2025, in Lilongwe, Blantyre, and Mangochi. These events may lead to increased security risks and disruptions in the respective areas.

In Lilongwe, protesters plan to gather at the Community Ground around 9:30 AM. They will march through Mchesi and the Kamuzu Central Hospital interchange, proceeding to Amina House traffic circle along Chilambula Road. The demonstration is expected to conclude at the Lilongwe District Commissioner’s Office in Area 3.

Blantyre will see demonstrators assembling at Chichiri Upper Stadium before marching via Chipembere Highway to the local MEC offices. In Mangochi, similar demonstrations are anticipated with formal notifications submitted by organizers to local authorities.

The potential for violence or spontaneous clashes remains high. There is a strong likelihood of road congestion and disruptions around these areas. Demonstrations could escalate into violence and spread to other parts of Lilongwe. Authorities recommend avoiding crowds as tear gas might be used for dispersal.

The U.S. Embassy in Lilongwe advises individuals to avoid demonstration areas, exercise caution near large gatherings or protests, monitor local media for updates, keep a low profile, and review personal security plans.
