The United States has imposed sanctions on a key leader of the Tren de Aragua (TdA), a Foreign Terrorist Organization originating from Venezuela. Giovanni Vicente Mosquera Serrano, an influential member of TdA, has been involved in narcotics trafficking and murder activities for the organization in Colombia. He is also implicated in extortion operations and managing the financial gains from these criminal acts.

The Department of State is offering a reward of up to $3 million through the Transnational Organized Crime Rewards Program for information leading to Mosquera Serrano's arrest or conviction. The FBI has added him to its Top 10 Most Wanted List, while the Department of Justice revealed an indictment against him for drug trafficking and terrorism-related offenses.

This move aligns with the recent designation of TdA as both a Foreign Terrorist Organization and a Specially Designated Global Terrorist. The United States aims to counteract TdA’s violent crime threats across the hemisphere by utilizing all available measures.

These actions are executed under Executive Orders 13581 and 13224, as amended. Further details can be found in Treasury’s press release.
