Barclays UK has announced the appointment of Roland McCormack as Head of Mortgage Intermediaries. This newly-created managing director role is part of a strategic effort to enhance the bank's broker-first approach and commitment to the intermediary market.
In his new position, McCormack will oversee Barclays' intermediary channel strategy and aim to deliver a strong experience for brokers. He will also play a crucial role in shaping the bank's broader mortgage journey. His tenure begins on July 1st, and he will report directly to Lee Chiswell, Head of Mortgages, as part of a revamped leadership structure intended to bolster Barclays' presence and market share in the intermediary sector.
McCormack joins Barclays with over 30 years of experience in the financial sector. He previously held senior roles at TSB Bank, where he was instrumental in developing TSB's intermediary proposition as Mortgage Distribution Director.
Lee Chiswell commented on McCormack's appointment: “The advice process plays a vital role in helping borrowers navigate the homebuying journey. We’re deeply committed to helping brokers succeed and want to make it even easier to do business with us. We’re delighted to welcome Roland whose appointment. Along with our new team structure, reflects our ambition to offer a best-in-class, compliant, and competitive intermediary proposition.”
Barclays aims to be a leader in global finance with diversified operations across consumer banking, corporate banking, wealth management, investment banking, and specialist US consumer banking.
