Lisa A. Johnson Ambassador | U.S. Embassy in Lebanon

On June 22, 2025, the U.S. Department of State mandated the departure of family members and non-emergency U.S. government personnel from Lebanon due to an unstable security environment in the region. The situation prompted the department to advise U.S. citizens in Lebanon to remain vigilant and stay informed about developments.

The U.S. Embassy has observed that several airlines have either suspended or canceled flights recently. Despite these disruptions, Lebanese airspace and Beirut Airport are still operational, though options for commercial transportation out of Lebanon are limited. Individuals are encouraged to verify available flight options at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport.

U.S. citizens are advised to monitor Travel.State.Gov for alerts and local news updates that could impact their security in Lebanon. Additionally, enrolling in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) is recommended for receiving alerts and facilitating contact during emergencies.

As per the Lebanon Travel Advisory, it is advised that U.S. citizens avoid traveling to Lebanon.
