Morgan Stanley Investment Management has announced that its 1GT climate private equity strategy has led a $30 million Series E funding round in Insight M. This investment, which aims to support Insight M's growth, includes participation from existing investors such as DCVC, Climate Investment, and Energy Innovation Capital.
Insight M specializes in methane management solutions for the energy sector. The company uses proprietary sensors mounted on aircraft to collect high-resolution data on fugitive methane emissions. This data helps energy operators identify and repair emitting infrastructure efficiently.
Vikram Raju, Head of Climate Private Equity Investing at MSIM, stated: “Fugitive methane emissions are profoundly consequential from an environmental, operational, and financial perspective. We believe that Insight M offers a highly compelling solution to help the industry detect and repair such emission events in a timely and cost-effective manner."
Methane emissions have significant environmental impacts due to their global warming potential being much higher than carbon dioxide over a century-long timeframe. Insight M's technology provides a balance between accuracy and cost-effectiveness in detecting these emissions.
David Bercovich, CEO of Insight M, commented: “We believe effective methane management means advancing operational success, public trust, and environmental stewardship—together.” He noted that the new funding will help deploy solutions globally to increase profits while reducing emissions.
Morgan Stanley Climate Private Equity manages the 1GT strategy focusing on companies with innovative climate solutions across various sectors including Power and Mobility. Morgan Stanley Investment Management oversees $1.6 trillion in assets globally as of March 31, 2025.
