A demonstration is planned near the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur on June 20, 2025. The protest will occur at 2:00 p.m. in front of the Menara See Hoy Chan building, located at 374 Jalan Tun Razak. The U.S. Embassy advises American citizens to monitor local media for updates regarding the event.
While routine services at the embassy are expected to continue without interruption, traffic around the area may be affected due to the demonstration and an anticipated police presence. From noon on June 20, pedestrian access to the embassy's front entrance will be restricted until after the protest concludes.
Currently, there is no indication that the demonstration will turn violent; however, "the nature of protests can change quickly and with little warning," according to a statement from the U.S. Embassy. Additionally, it is illegal for non-Malaysians to participate in demonstrations within Malaysia.
The embassy has issued guidance for those in proximity to avoid areas where demonstrators gather, stay informed through local media, avoid crowds and demonstrations, and remain aware of their surroundings.
