FSB group discusses financial vulnerabilities in Sub-Saharan Africa

Members of the Financial Stability Board's (FSB) Regional Consultative Group for Sub-Saharan Africa convened in Livingstone on June 17, 2025. The meeting focused on discussions about financial vulnerabilities at both global and regional levels. Attendees addressed the impact of extreme weather events in Sub-Saharan Africa and explored how both private and public sectors can prepare for such occurrences.

The group also reviewed progress on the G20 Roadmap concerning cross-border payments. They discussed challenges faced by public and private sectors in making significant improvements to payment systems.

In addition, members shared updates on regional developments related to crypto-assets and stablecoins, including efforts to implement the FSB’s regulatory framework.
