Candace A. Bond Ambassador | U.S. Embassy in Trinidad and Tobago

Representatives from the Regional Federal Benefits Unit will be visiting Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, to provide services related to U.S. Social Security and other federal benefits. The visit is scheduled from June 24 to June 26, 2025.

The services will be offered at the U.S. Embassy located at 15 Queen’s Park West, Port of Spain. Appointments are necessary for all services and can be scheduled online.

Services available include assistance with the Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire (FEQ), applications for Social Security benefits, and applications for a Social Security Number card. Visitors are required to bring original documents along with photocopies and valid identification.

Security measures at the embassy prohibit bags, wallets, opaque envelopes, lighters, weapons, and electronic devices. Documents should be carried in clear plastic folders for faster security screening.

For those needing to submit their Foreign Enforcement Questionnaire SSA 7162/7161 form for 2024, appointments must be made as this is part of the "proof of life" requirement sent out earlier this year. Failure to return these forms by January 2025 resulted in suspended benefits starting February 2025.

Applicants for Social Security benefits or a Social Security Number card must present specific documents such as birth certificates and U.S. passports during their appointment.

Further details about the services provided by the Regional Federal Benefits Unit can be found on their website: https://do.usembassy.gov/social-security/
