The U.S. Embassy is organizing a closed bid auction for a used modular house on Friday, October 18, 2024. Bids are to be submitted by 4:30 PM at the U.S. Embassy located at Avenida de Portugal in Dili.
Constructed in Jakarta, Indonesia, in 2006, the modular house was designed with energy efficiency in mind. Its main ceiling and walls are made from sandwich panels that provide better cooling than other materials. The house includes three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a kitchen, dining room, living room, TV room, and an external laundry area. Elevated for plumbing access and enhanced views from its front verandah, the roof features Clean Colorbond with Thermatech Solar Reflectance Technology manufactured in Australia.
Additional features of the house include semi-new split type inverter air conditioning units, window grilles with emergency escapes, PVC deck boards, low-maintenance vinyl siding for exterior walls, and a galvanized steel roof frame.
The winning bidder will be responsible for removing the house at their own expense. Attached drawings indicate which parts of the building must remain or be removed; notably, the solar water heater will stay in place. The embassy will provide an installation manual to the successful bidder who must also sign an agreement outlining removal requirements.
Prospective bidders can view the lot between 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM on October 10 and October 11 at the Blue Roof Compound on Rua Avenida de Portugal near the U.S. Embassy. The minimum bid is set at $4,000 with a $2,000 deposit required to secure participation; this deposit is refundable for those not winning the auction.
