The U.S. Embassy in Ulaanbaatar and the Congressional Office for International Leadership (COIL) are partnering with Mongolia to host the inaugural International Alumni Conference. The event, focused on "Judicial Independence and Court Digitalization," is scheduled for June 16-17 at the Consultation Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Ulaanbaatar.
The conference will gather over 120 participants, including 40 international judges and legal experts from countries such as the United States, Armenia, Estonia, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Serbia, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, 80 Mongolian judges and judicial leaders will attend. The conference aims to facilitate an exchange of best practices and promote judicial independence while exploring digital technologies' role in enhancing transparency and efficiency within justice systems.
The United States Government's ongoing support for Mongolia's democratic development is underscored by this event, which highlights the partnership between the two nations in promoting rule of law and accountable governance.
Ambassador Richard Buangan stated that "the COIL conference reflects our shared commitment to an independent judiciary and the digital transformation of court systems," adding that it offers a platform for legal leaders to learn from each other and pursue meaningful reforms.
Keynote speeches, panel discussions, and sessions will cover topics like judicial independence, e-court systems, cyber security, judicial training, and international cooperation. The conference also marks over ten years of COIL programming in Mongolia through the Open World program.
