The U.S. Embassy in Madagascar has launched a two-day English language training program for instructors from the country's National Police and Gendarmerie. The event, taking place in Antananarivo, includes participants from the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de la Police (ENSP) in Ivato and the Ecole Supérieure de la Gendarmerie Nationale (ESGN) in Moramanga.

This initiative is supported by the English Language Teachers Association (ELTA) of Madagascar and led by a U.S. English Language Specialist. It aims to provide instructors with effective teaching tools and techniques for delivering English instruction at their respective training centers.

"The goal is to empower instructors to deliver high-impact English lessons that improve communication and broaden international engagement for Madagascar’s law enforcement agencies," stated an embassy representative.

Senior officials from the U.S. Embassy, Malagasy Gendarmerie, and National Police attended the opening ceremony. They highlighted the increasing importance of English in international law enforcement cooperation and expressed their commitment to ongoing collaboration.

These trained instructors will pass on their skills to future generations of gendarmes and police officers. The long-term impact is expected to be a more globally connected law enforcement community in Madagascar, equipped with language proficiency for international engagement.

The training reflects the U.S. Embassy's dedication to supporting professional development within Madagascar's law enforcement sector and strengthening ties between the United States and Madagascar.
