The U.S. Department of State has released the 2023 Country Reports on Human Rights Practices, commonly known as the Human Rights Reports. These reports assess internationally recognized individual, civil, political, and worker rights as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and other international agreements. The reports are submitted to the U.S. Congress for all countries receiving assistance and all United Nations member states, following the Foreign Assistance Act of 1961 and the Trade Act of 1974.

This year's report can be accessed at: https://www.state.gov/reports/2023-country-reports-on-human-rights-practices/. Specific information regarding Lithuania is available at: https://www.state.gov/reports/2023-country-reports-on-human-rights-practices/lithuania/.

For nearly fifty years, these annual reports have aimed to provide a factual and objective account of human rights conditions worldwide. In 2022, the report covered 198 countries and territories, detailing credible accounts of human rights abuses and violations. These reports serve as a resource for government officials and advocates concerned about rising authoritarianism that threatens human rights and democracy.
