On July 19, a picnic will be held at Washington Square to commemorate the Sumner Welles Declaration. The event, scheduled for 5 pm, aims to celebrate friendship and features performances by the US Naval Forces in Europe and Africa Band, which will play American music. Attendees can also enjoy outdoor games and American-style food from food trucks.

The Sumner Welles Declaration was issued in 1940 by Benjamin Sumner Welles, then-Acting Secretary of State of the United States. It stated that the U.S. did not recognize the occupation of the Baltic States. This declaration is seen as a testament to enduring friendship.

Organizers encourage participants to invite friends and bring blankets for seating. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the U.S. Embassy in Lithuania are responsible for organizing this event.
