The U.S. Embassy, in collaboration with the Cabo Verdean Alumni Association of the United States of America (ACA-EUA), organized a Pre-Departure Orientation for the 2025 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders finalists. The event was held over two days in Praia.
During this orientation, the finalists were received by José Maria Neves, President of the Republic of Cabo Verde. He shared his experiences from participating in a U.S. leadership program and highlighted the significance of educational exchanges and civic engagement.
The future Fellows participated in interactive sessions led by alumni, exchanging ideas and strategies for their projects' implementation both within Cabo Verde and alongside fellow YALI participants from neighboring countries.
In upcoming weeks, profiles of each 2025 YALI Fellow will be shared to provide insights into these young leaders and their initiatives.
The organizers express confidence that these young leaders will return equipped to introduce innovation, vision, and positive change to their communities.
