The U.S. Mission in Nigeria has condemned a recent attack by a non-state armed group on the Gwoza-Limankara road in Borno State. The incident resulted in the death of a staff member from the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), a local partner organization. Another JDPC staff member was abducted during the attack.
"This horrific attack targeted individuals dedicated to fostering peace, development, and community engagement in Borno," stated the U.S. Mission. The mission expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased, the JDPC community, and all those affected by what it described as "this senseless act of violence."
The statement also emphasized the importance of bringing those responsible to justice and highlighted ongoing partnerships with local organizations like JDPC that work towards building peace and prosperity in Nigeria.
