Akmal Musyrif, a cadet at the U.S. Air Force Academy and part of the Class of 2028, hails from Putrajaya. He is the second among four siblings in a military family. His upbringing emphasized leadership and integrity.
His father, Major (R) Shariff Hussain, taught him to anticipate future challenges. His late mother, Lt Col Azlina Azmi, served as a role model for her honesty and dedication to her duties.
Akmal attended Sultan Alam Shah Secondary School in Putrajaya where he held the position of Deputy Head Boy. He excelled academically with straight A’s in the Malaysian Certificate Examination (SPM), equivalent to O-Level. After high school, he was offered a JPA scholarship to study engineering in Japan but chose instead to attend the National Defense University Malaysia with aspirations of joining USAFA and becoming a fighter jet pilot.
In addition to his academic achievements, Akmal is active in sports as both a state sprinter and rugby player. He completed his Foundations in Engineering and Technological Studies at the National Defense University Malaysia with an overall CGPA of 3.98 and is proficient in Japanese.
