As the demand for high-performance computing grows, Siemens, Cadolto, and Legrand have introduced a new modular edge data center. This system was unveiled at Data Center World Frankfurt on June 4-5, 2025.
The modular solution offers customizable prefabricated modules that can be tailored to specific operational needs and deployed quickly. Unlike traditional containerized data centers, this approach allows for planning cycles of six to 12 months and supports various workloads from basic tasks to AI-powered computing.
Siemens acts as the exclusive technology partner by integrating its Smart Infrastructure technologies, including power distribution, building automation, fire safety, and security systems. Optional maintenance contracts and a connection to a 24/7 emergency service control center enhance the offering. Siemens also provides flexible financing options through Siemens Financial Services.
Cadolto Datacenter serves as the manufacturer and general contractor for the modular edge data center. They deliver prefabricated buildings with integrated climate control. Legrand Data Center Solutions contributes expertise in IT infrastructure components such as racks, cabling, PDUs, and UPS systems.
Ciaran Flanagan of Siemens AG stated: “With digital transformation accelerating across every industry, our customers need infrastructure that moves as fast as they do.” He emphasized the agility of this solution compared to traditional data centers.
The energy-efficient data centers are suitable for both permanent and interim use in various environments like pharmaceuticals or automotive test setups. They can be deployed without upfront investment through "IT-ready" rental models.
Each unit is factory-built with precision engineering and is delivered ready-to-operate. The construction process results in approximately 30 percent fewer CO₂ emissions and a 90 percent recycling rate.
Visitors at Data Center World Frankfurt can view a full-scale demo unit of this new solution in Hall 8.
