Christopher J. Lamora, Ambassador | U.S. Embassy in Cameroon

Good evening, esteemed faculty, proud parents, distinguished guests, and most importantly, the graduating class of 2025.

U.S. Ambassador to Cameroon delivered a graduation speech at the American International School of Yaoundé (AISOY). The event marked the first time a U.S. Ambassador has addressed graduates at this institution.

Ambassador Lamora emphasized the significance of international cooperation in his speech. He noted that this spirit led Director Glittenberg and the School Board to rename the school by adding "International" to its title—a decision he supported.

The ambassador highlighted the importance of this milestone for students. "Today marks a significant milestone in your lives," he said, acknowledging their hard work and resilience. He encouraged graduates to reflect on their journey and potential as they enter a new chapter.

Addressing future aspirations, Ambassador Lamora asked graduates how they would define success. He advised them to embrace change with courage and pursue passions that excite them. "Remember, 'Yours are the only shoes made to walk your journey,'" he stated.

He urged students to remain hopeful amid global complexities and emphasized education's role as a catalyst for change. "With your knowledge, compassion and determination, you can be agents of progress," he said.

In closing remarks, Ambassador Lamora reminded graduates of their responsibility as part of a global community committed to positive change. "Carry that spirit forward and never underestimate the Power of One… In other words, the Power of YOU."

He concluded by congratulating them on their achievement and expressed anticipation for their future accomplishments.
