The United States has expressed its gratitude to Mongolia for leading the efforts in facilitating the process on the resolution titled "World Horse Day" (A/79/L.89). The U.S. also acknowledged the attempts by several members to reach a compromise during negotiations, particularly in removing climate references from the preamble that were seen as distracting from the main issue.

Despite these efforts, the U.S. found certain positions within the resolution's text unacceptable, prompting it to call for a vote. The lack of textual accommodations supporting consensus was noted with regret, especially concerning language related to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The United States has previously stated its position that these agendas infringe upon state sovereignty and represent a form of global governance it does not support. As such, it will no longer automatically reaffirm them in UN resolutions.

For these reasons, a vote on this resolution has been called by the United States.

Thank you.
