We invited individuals from the LGBTQI+ community and their allies to share personal experiences, anecdotes, and moments that challenged preconceived notions. A key question posed was: "What’s a moment where someone’s bias made you laugh before it made you think?"
Tomina Vodarici, a community investment specialist from Romania, recounted an incident at a music festival. During a panel discussion on queer people, a parent asked about the appropriate age for children to be exposed to queer content to avoid influencing them to become gay. The parent expressed concern over the prevalence of gay characters in media and worried about her daughter potentially identifying as lesbian. The speaker responded with, “the same age you would allow them to see straight content.” This response was met with applause from the audience.
The stories shared aim to highlight how bias can manifest in everyday situations and provoke reflection.
