The 2025 Canada Games, scheduled to take place in St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador from August 8 to 25, will feature a partnership with Toyota Canada as the Official Electrified Fleet Partner. This event will bring together able-bodied athletes and those with physical and intellectual disabilities for Canada's largest amateur multi-sport gathering.
Toyota Canada is contributing a fleet of 50 fully electric bZ4X vehicles to assist with the operations, logistics, and transportation needs of the Games. The zero-emission fleet aims to support sustainable and carbon-neutral event operations, aligning with the Games' objective of being the greenest ever held in Canada. This collaboration is supported by all 26 Toyota dealerships across Atlantic Canada.
Patrick Ryan, TCI’s Atlantic and Quebec Zone Manager, expressed pride in supporting the Games: “Toyota Canada, along with our Atlantic Canada dealers, are proud to support the Canada Games by providing them with a fleet of fully electric vehicles.” He added that local Toyota dealers would be cheering on their regional athletes, coaches, and families participating in the event.
Additionally, TCI plans to offer hands-on training for volunteers on operating electric vehicles (bZ4X) to ensure they gain full experience in electrified driving.
Kim Keating and Karl Smith, Co-Chairs of the 2025 Canada Games Host Society Board of Directors, welcomed Toyota's involvement: “We are proud to welcome Toyota Canada Inc. as the Electrified Fleet Partner of the 2025 Canada Games." They noted that this partnership underscores a shared commitment to sustainability while ensuring a positive environmental impact on Newfoundland and Labrador.
The Canada Games serve as an important milestone for developing future national champions across various levels including Olympic and Paralympic sports. Each Summer Games edition features two weeks of competition involving between 16 and 20 sports with approximately 4,600 participants including athletes, coaches, managers alongside over 5,000 volunteers.
