The governments of the United States, Democratic Republic of the Congo, France, Qatar, Rwanda, and Togo have released a joint statement emphasizing their commitment to peace in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo. This follows a trilateral meeting held in Doha on March 18, 2025.

Representatives from these nations gathered again in Doha to discuss efforts to address ongoing issues in the region. They focused on dialogues between the Congolese government and the Alliance Fleuve Congo/March 23rd (AFC/M23) movement. The humanitarian situation in eastern Congo was also a significant topic, with an urgent call for coordinated responses.

"The representatives welcomed the joint declaration between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and the AFC/M23," facilitated by Qatar. They emphasized commitments to a ceasefire as essential for facilitating humanitarian aid. Dialogue addressing root causes of crises was deemed crucial for sustainable peace.

The group acknowledged progress made since a summit in Dar es Salaam on February 8, 2025. Significant advancements were noted following the signing of a Declaration of Principles in Washington D.C. on April 25, 2025. They expressed readiness to support ongoing efforts for mutual trust and peaceful conflict resolution under African Union mediation led by Togolese President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé.

Appreciation was extended to Qatar for hosting discussions. The representatives reaffirmed their commitment to dialogue and collective action toward stability in Congo and its region.
