Ambassador Henry Wooster has been appointed as the Chargé d’Affaires at the United States Embassy in Haiti, effective June 12. This announcement was made by Secretary Marco Rubio on May 30, 2025. Ambassador Wooster will lead a comprehensive government approach to U.S. policy in Haiti, collaborating with international partners to support Haitian security forces.
Secretary Rubio expressed appreciation for Ambassador Dennis Hankins' service and leadership, wishing him well in his retirement.
Ambassador Wooster brings extensive experience to his new role, having served previously at Embassy Port au Prince, as Ambassador to Jordan, and in the U.S. Army. Secretary Rubio highlighted Wooster's "extensive background in Washington and his proven leadership record overseas," affirming that he is "the right person to lead this mission at a critical time."
