Applications are now open for the 2026-2027 Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program, a one-year professional development opportunity for mid-career professionals. This fully funded program aims to enhance participants' leadership skills and foster engagement with partner countries to benefit the United States. Although it offers academic, professional, and cultural experiences, it does not grant degrees, nor can Fellows transfer to degree status.
Humphrey Fellows spend 8-10 months at host campuses across the U.S., participating in non-degree studies. They also engage in a minimum six-week professional affiliation with U.S.-based organizations from various sectors. Through these activities, Fellows gain insights into U.S. practices, deepen their expertise in fields of strategic importance, and expand their professional networks.
The program targets professionals who can contribute significantly to their communities and fields upon returning home. Eligible applicants must have five years of post-bachelor's degree experience, demonstrate leadership ability and community commitment, be fluent in English, and be Zimbabwean citizens residing in Zimbabwe at the time of application. Additionally, they must not have studied or participated in a U.S. government exchange program within the past three years.
The fellowship seeks candidates from several priority areas: Economic Policy and Finance; Public Policy Analysis and Public Administration; Technology Policy and Management; Communications and Journalism; Law and Human Rights; Agriculture and Rural Development; Natural Resources and Environmental Policy; Urban and Regional Planning; Public Health Policy and Management; Substance Abuse Education and Policy; Educational Administration, Planning, and Policy.
The application deadline is June 30, 2025.
