Ambassador Richard Mills Jr. recently attended the launch of the INSPIRE Project in Nigeria, a new initiative by the TechWomen Alumni Association Nigeria. The project is part of the TechWomen program, a U.S. Department of State exchange initiative that connects women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) from Africa and other regions with mentors and companies in the United States.
According to Ambassador Mills, "TechWomen is more than a professional exchange—it’s a strategic investment in our shared future." He highlighted how it strengthens America's role in the global innovation economy by building relationships between American professionals and global changemakers.
The INSPIRE Project aims to address gaps in STEM education by enhancing teachers' capabilities and providing students with hands-on learning tools. It receives support from ExxonMobil Foundation and PanAfricare. The project will have nationwide reach across Nigeria, including areas such as Bauchi, Lagos, FCT, and Abia.
Ambassador Mills praised the efforts of TechWomen alumnae: "Your leadership is proof that one exchange can spark lasting impact." He emphasized their role as builders of opportunity and resilience.
The U.S. Mission in Nigeria supports initiatives that promote education and innovation. Ambassador Mills concluded by congratulating those involved: "Congratulations on this important milestone."
