Cairo – On May 29, 2025, U.S. Senator Timothy Sheehy addressed the graduation ceremony of 57 Egyptian teachers from the Teach to Lead STEM program. This initiative is a collaboration between The Boeing Company and Amideast aimed at enhancing STEM education in Egypt's public schools. The event was attended by U.S. Deputy Chief of Mission Evyenia Sidereas, Boeing regional leadership, and other notable figures from the education and STEM sectors.
The program, funded by Boeing and executed by Amideast, offers in-service teachers 60 hours of advanced training focusing on project-based learning, technology integration, and leadership skills. The curriculum supports Egypt’s Education 2.0 reforms and equips educators with modern classroom methodologies. Among the graduates are 42 women, marking a significant step toward improving STEM education quality and access in Egyptian public schools.
Senator Sheehy remarked, “This collaboration between Boeing and Amideast will empower educators, uplift students, and create shared prosperity for both Egypt and the United States. U.S. companies have a long tradition of investing at home in people and in their operations around the world.”
Education plays a crucial role in U.S.-Egypt relations. Over 27,000 Egyptians have participated in U.S. government exchange programs, with the U.S. Embassy offering professional development to thousands of English language teachers across Egypt annually. Since 2011, the partnership has resulted in establishing 21 new STEM schools in Egypt to enhance educational access and skill development for high school students.
