Goods Council announces 2025 chairs for subsidiary bodies

Members of the Goods Council have agreed on the chairpersons for its subsidiary bodies for 2025. The appointed individuals will lead various committees, each responsible for different aspects of trade regulations and practices.

The Committee on Agriculture will be chaired by Mr. Diego Alfieri from Brazil. Mr. Hirokazu Watanabe from Japan has been selected to head the Committee on Anti-dumping Practices. Ms. Judith Yu-ying Kuo from Chinese Taipei will lead the Committee on Customs Valuation.

Mr. Tiago Serras Rodrigues from Portugal is set to chair the Committee on Import Licensing, while Mr. Ninad Deshpande from India will oversee the Committee on Market Access. The Committee on Rules of Origin will be led by Ms. Carol Tsang from Hong Kong, China.

Mrs. Milagros Miranda Rojas from Peru has been chosen as the chairperson for the Committee on Safeguards, and Mrs. Maria Cosme from France will head the Committee on Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures.

Mr. Jungsoo Hur from Korea, Republic of, will lead the Committee on Subsidies and Countervailing Measures, while Ms. Beatriz Stevens from the United Kingdom is appointed to chair the Committee on Technical Barriers to Trade.

The leadership of the Committee on Trade Facilitation goes to Mr. Edem Kossi from Togo, and Ms. Maryam Abdulaziz Aldoseri from the Kingdom of Bahrain will chair the Committee on Trade-Related Investment Measures.

Mr. George Andrei Rusu from Romania is named as chairperson for the Committee of Participants on the Expansion of Trade in Information Technology Products.

Finally, Mr. Sokheng Kong from Cambodia has been directly appointed by the Council for Trade in Goods as Chairperson of the Working Party on State Trading Enterprises.

Each committee will conduct its own procedures to elect their respective chairpersons, except for those directly appointed by higher authorities within the council.
