The embassies of IGAD member states and major donor countries convened on March 13, 2025, to discuss the situation in South Sudan. The meeting concluded with a call for urgent action to promote peace in the region. Participants recognized IGAD's leadership role, particularly through the recent summit held on March 12.

There was a consensus on the importance of open and direct dialogue among all parties involved in the Revitalized Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan (R-ARCSS). This includes President Kiir and First Vice President Machar. Such dialogue is seen as crucial to support ongoing peace efforts.

The meeting saw participation from ambassadors and representatives from various countries, including Canada, Djibouti, Ethiopia, France, Germany, Kenya, Norway, the Netherlands, Somalia, Sudan, Uganda, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Additionally, representatives from the European Union were present.

The Chairman of the Reconstituted Joint Monitoring and Evaluation Commission (R-JMEC) hosted this significant gathering at his offices.
