Adrienne Galanek, Deputy Chief of Mission | U.S. Embassy in Guyana

The U.S. Embassy in Guyana will close on January 9, 2025, to honor James Earl Carter, Jr., the thirty-ninth President of the United States. This closure follows an Executive Order by President Joseph R. Biden issued on December 30.

All visa interviews and American Citizens Services (ACS) appointments scheduled for that day are canceled and will be rescheduled. Affected individuals should check their registered email for instructions on how to reschedule their appointments.

Despite the embassy's closure, the Document Service Center at 223 Camp Street, Georgetown, will remain open for dropping off visa-related documents.

American citizens needing emergency consular services can call 592-225-4126 or 592-225-4127. For non-emergency matters, they are encouraged to contact the American Citizen Services unit through the U.S. Embassy Georgetown navigator system available online at https://gy.usembassy.gov/u-s-citizen-services/.

Normal business operations at the embassy will resume on January 10.
