Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (MDES) and the Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC) have partnered with Meta to launch a privacy education campaign. This initiative is designed to raise awareness among Thai users about the privacy controls available on Meta’s platforms.
The campaign's goal is to equip Thai users with knowledge and tools for managing their online privacy. It encourages the use of Facebook's Privacy Checkup tool, understanding end-to-end encryption, and activating two-factor authentication along with Login Alerts for enhanced security.
Running for six weeks from today, the campaign will feature content in Thai, including social media posts, ads, and GIFs available on Facebook. The aim is to reach a broad audience of Thai users.
Meta has invested $8 billion in its privacy program since 2019 and has developed educational tools to clarify data usage and management options. Yingyos Leechaianan, Facebook Thailand’s Head of Public Policy, stated: “We are committed to protecting the privacy of our users and are excited to partner with MDES and PDPC to educate Thai users on how to take control of their privacy online.”
The collaboration between Meta, MDES, and PDPC seeks to protect consumer privacy while empowering them to make informed decisions regarding their online presence on Facebook.
