NAB is extending financial support to its customers affected by severe flooding in the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. The bank has announced $1,000 Disaster Relief Grants for eligible customers who have experienced damage to their homes, farms, or businesses due to the floods.
Tony Story, NAB Executive Retail for New South Wales, outlined the measures: “Communities in the Mid North Coast are currently experiencing some of the worst flooding to the region in decades,” he said. “This is a difficult time for our communities and we’re here to help. We’re providing immediate assistance and making $1,000 grants available to help NAB customers impacted.”
Support extends beyond grants; it includes loan deferrals and reduced repayment arrangements for home, personal, and certain business loans. Extra care options are also available for those struggling with minimum monthly payments on personal loans, home loans, or credit cards. Customers can defer upcoming credit card payments and may have fees waived or refunded.
The relief efforts cover various local government areas including Bellingen, Central Coast, Cessnock, Clarence Valley, Coffs Harbour, Dungog, Kempsey, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, Mid Coast, Nambucca, Newcastle, Port Macquarie, Port Stephens, Singleton and Upper Hunter.
Additionally, NAB staff displaced by the floods can access funds for temporary accommodation and essentials. Disaster Relief Grants can be applied for online until June 19th 2025. Those unable to apply online or needing financial hardship assistance can contact NAB through specified phone numbers or via messaging services.
In line with its policy during emergencies involving volunteer work from employees in emergency services roles as well as community service roles more broadly speaking , NAB continues to offer paid crisis leave.
