The U.S. Embassy in Freetown has engaged in a collaborative effort with the Republic of Sierra Leone Air Force (SLAF) to enhance its capabilities and organizational structure. A team from the U.S. Air Forces in Europe-Air Forces Africa (USAFE-AFAFRICA) visited Sierra Leone for a week-long exchange aimed at sharing expertise.

Experts from the USAFE-AFAFRICA Manpower, Organization, and Resources Division provided guidance to support overall air force development. The initiative focused on expanding SLAF capabilities as part of the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces' tri-service construct. This expansion seeks to bolster the SLAF’s ability to offer deterrence, maintain territorial integrity, and resolve conflicts to safeguard vital national interests. Key areas of focus included total air force development, personnel growth, and capability enhancement.

The American delegation conducted briefings and led discussions covering topics such as manpower management, database administration, career progression strategies, strategic planning, air force doctrine formulation, process improvement, and manning calculations. Brigadier General David Sahr Ngaujah, RSLAF Chief of General Staff, along with the SLAF leadership expressed interest in further engagements to delve deeper into U.S. Air Force practices regarding evaluations, assignments, and training.

"The U.S. Government is committed to partnering with Sierra Leone to support the development of a professional and effective air force," stated a representative from the U.S. Embassy.

This partnership underscores ongoing efforts by both nations to ensure regional safety and stability through strengthened military collaboration.
